The crazy roll includes baked salmon but my roll was raw with only 2 end pieces cooked. The chef had to have known because he put it together... It's clearly raw... They are replacing it but after eating the sweetheart roll (sweet potato) which is flavorless, I have little hope for a "cooked" crazy roll. My last time here. Ok, they just replaced my roll.... Salmon is baked but 2 end pieces have no salmon.... Really? And my suspicion was correct... No flavor.

We went here on out anniversary. It was my first time and my boyfriends second. We are in one of the little private rooms. The good was good and the crab Rangoon were amazing! I would definitely go back.

Short Version: Mushy rice, not a good texture for sushi, felt rushed and checked on too often by waitress. Overall mediocre food and experience Long Version: I've been to Izumi at least twice. Both times, the rice was softer than you'd expect for sushi. It didn't have a fluffy chewiness to it. It was mushy and sticky/slimy feeling. I was with one friend for my birthday and we had reserved one of the private tatami rooms where you sit low to the ground in privacy behind a sliding rice paper panel. They're also the really hokey Americanized kind that have a raised floor with a box cut out of it under the table so you sit as if you were in normal chairs... Ugg. Our waitress kept opening the door to our room and walking away without shutting it, which made us uncomfortable, because we wondered if they'd for some reason take offense to us shutting it repeatedly. Isn't the point of the tatami room to have a private environment with your guests? We had brought a Japanese hanafuda deck to play while we waited for our food, which came too quickly for us to even play a couple rounds of Koi Koi. As soon as we finished our rolls, we wanted to sit and finish our drinks while we played a few minutes longer, but our waitress kept bugging us about whether we were going to order something else and we felt unwelcome so we paid and left. We must have been in that restaurant for half an hour from start to finish. Normally I'd applaud quick service, but they seemed to be wanting us to leave as soon as we'd finished our food about 10 minutes after getting it. I realize the tatami rooms are probably popular and they would rather see them used for groups instead of two people alone, but we had made our reservation just as anyone else would, and there was at least one vacant room at the time. The group in the room next to us had been there longer than we had. In a nutshell, the sushi is way sub-par and the service is just not too kind. If you end up here, order a Tiger Eye roll. It was my favorite of what we had. My advice for Izumi: Do some research on how other sushi chefs prepare their rice and experiment with slightly firmer rice texture.

Overall a disappointment. Food is the same as the other Japanese steak houses. Slow service for two of us. We were seated and didn't eat anything for over 30 minutes. Hot tea came in a cup w a tea bag. Really? Can't make a pot? Had to ask several times for water. Ordered an Alaskan Roll which was very good. Our sushi roll plate, and soup bowls and salad bowls were not removed before our asking. Chef started cooking with all the plates and bowls still surrounding our cheap plastic plates. Our chef was new. Didn't have all the tricks down. Broke an egg with shell for fried rice. Onion volcano was not done right. Shrimp "throw" was late. There are too many other places like this to put up with such bad service Had to ask for our check too. We easily could have walked out without paying. Too sad.

Visited yesterday and am still thinking about how good it was today! We ordered off of the sushi menu and everything was awesome, but the unagi was the star of the show for both of us. We ordered it both as sashimi and in rolls and they both were amazing. We also order the spicy tuna mango, and sunset rolls. The mango and sunset are both lighter rolls, and the spicy tuna was really good. But the eel roll was definitely the standout! We also ordered sashimi yellowtail and salmon. Both good but, again, the unagi was far and away the best! Looking forward to going back and trying more items on the menu!

I met about 12 or 13 others here for dinner. We obviously couldn't sit around the teppanyaki grills where the chefs cooked and performed for everybody. I haven't seen one for a few years, but it was nice to see others enjoying the performance. One thing I noticed was since our group had a lot of people, we were not seated until all of our party was present. Our waitress seemed nice and answered any questions we had. She did ask the whole group if we preferred getting food as they were ready or all at the same time. We opted to get food as they were ready since we were all doing separate checks. I ordered the Steak & Chicken dinner box ($17.95) which came with miso soup, salad, white rice, crab rangoon, and 4 California Rolls. I tried someone's sushi (I forgot what it was) and it was okay. The miso and salad tasted the same as any other place that had those. My dinner box came out pretty late. The crab rangoon was good, the chicken was not bad, the steak was okay, and the California Rolls were a little mushy. The dinner box wasn't enough for me because I was still hungry afterwards; however, I would think this would be fine for anybody else. Overall, I thought this place was okay and the only place I've been to so far that had teppanyaki grills.

The wait staff is awesome! All of them serve with a smile and get drinks out very quickly. The sushi bar is super fun for happy hour and it is interesting to watch them make it. My favorite roll is the KC roll! I go at least once a week because I love it!

Had lunch with my kids. Terrible service. Took forever to get welcomed at the front door, soda was flat, shrimp was undercooked, and the sushi was not nearly as good as other places in the area. Took most of the sushi home and ended up throwing it away. Disappointing and quite expensive. It's a shame. Won't be going back...

Walking into Izumi we were a bit worried about what was in store for us. The servers appeared overwhelmed and the was no host or hostess. The menu had every option we were looking for in a teppanyaki we were looking for. The sushi menu was not large but had some very different rolls. The food was 5 stars, unfortunately the service was 1 star. I'm being generous with 4 stars overall but am hoping the 'help wanted' sign improves the service. We had chicken, steak, shrimp, scallops, and lobster in our group Everyone was extremely happy with their food and we all shared. We should have shared drinks as well to help the poor service. For sushi or tep we will come back again, hopefully to better service. If you can, ask for the chef JR White Lightning he was awesome.

Have been coming here for years and it's only gotten better. Izumi is the first place I recommend when someone asks about a sushi place in Overland Park. Portions are larger and more well prepared than the happy hour sushi spots in JoCo. Better sushi at a great price. Can't wait to go back.

Okay, so I'm giving this place 3 stars only because their food was delicious. I'm from out of state and usually my family and I go to Kyotos but we wanted an earlier reservation which was 7:15. We got there at 7 and I believe the owner was running out the door to go to price chopper. When we got back she had meat with her. So we finally sat down around 7:30. Slowly they took our drink order and slowly we received our drinks. Then after putting in our orders, we received our soups but no salads! About 20 minutes later and the waiter realizing we didn't get our salads, he brought them out. Our cook finally came over and even at that, didn't give someone in our party their fried rice, so he has to cook more. Finally, he cooked our orders and started eating at 8:15. By this time, we were all so hungry and at that, could've just stayed with our 8pm reservation at Kyotos! We finally left at 9, two hours later. The food was good. The chicken was tender, the steak was cooked just right, and the shrimp was good. Their yum yum sauce isn't as thick at Kyotos but still good. I think I'd stick to Kyotos because they're more attentive and cooks are always available. At Izumis, there was three cooks and they were all taken. So not only were we waiting, but so was another table and they did not look happy at all. At one point I even heard him say, he was ready to leave. I also felt the same.

Ugh. I have no idea how this place got top reviews in the past. We were seated and one of our guests had her menu yanked from her hands before she was done ordering. The menu does NOT have descriptions of what is in the sushi, and when we got one that was pretty gross, the manager would not let us send it back! While eating the manager came over and started messing with my entree because she wanted to look at it....we were so uncomfortable we didn't know what to do! We heard the manager being rude to other guests at other tables. We will NEVER be back....AWFUL service, AWFUL food!

My family and I were "regulars" for several years. We tried to hit up their happy hour and always enjoyed the fresh sushi and the great wait staff. We quit going about a year ago after the manager refused to charge us happy hour prices when we were seated and ordered well within the timeframe. The manager made a big deal about it and lost great customers in the process. Every now and then I have a hankering for their sushi, but I've since found another great sushi place: Haru's. I would also like to mention we made reservations every Christmas Eve for eight years for a group of 10-14. Between our regular weekly visits, plus special occasions, they lost several great customers.

Possibly the worst service I have ever experienced. There were three tables in the entire place and we waited over an hour for sushi!
Perfect place to go if you dream of the sushi food coma. I ordered the Crazy roll and Philly roll (I get this every place I go) and for one of the only times, couldn't eat it all. The waitress was awesome, the food was melt in your mouth good, and I can't wait to come back.

Ate there with family and ate at the steakhouse part It took forever to place our order and to get water. The steak was sub par, the chicken was good. The sauces placed at the table were not great at all. Overall not a great experience and will not go back.

Horrible service. Our waitress had 4 tables, including us. It took over 45 minutes to get our first 2 rolls, the rest followed in increments. Refills were a joke. People from the other tables gabbed their own drink from the bar (multiple people and multiple times) since the server wasn't bringing it to them. The host, which I believe is the owner, was no where to be found after she sat us. Food was ok, but even if it was great it would not have made up for the terrible service. The waitress never apologized or offered any help. Waste of $70 and a date night.

This is the best Japanese steak house in Overland Park! Their crab Rangoon is to die for!!! They have outstanding customer service !! I highly recommend meal-wise chicken and steak. Your mouth will be watering all night and you receive giant portions! Also each meal comes with fried rice, vegetables, salad, soup, and shrimp! I guarantee you will not leave with an empty stomach ! The environment is very family oriented and the cooks engage with customers and perform many awesome tricks while cooking for each party! DOWNSIDES: on the expensive side for meals and beverages! Also, if you make reservations or walk in and your party is not all there ThEY WILL NoT SEAT YOU until the whole party is there... So plan ahead!

Fresh fish, competent hibachi table, but the overall vibe somehow doesn't completely work. Our waitress scared me a little, although competent. I don't think she was Japanese. Neither was our hibachi chef, but he was a pleasant and friendly fellow and did the necessary. The sushi was not stunningly creative, but as mentioned the fish was fresh and that counts for a lot. I have a funny feeling that the owners' hearts are in the right place, but something's missing.

Definitely our favorite place to get sushi. We have been coming here for years and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Their sushi always tastes fresh. When ordering don't forget to write in cucumber rolls since they are not on the menu. Also, make sure you make one of your rolls a hand roll. It helps that it is conveniently located near our house.

I read a few reviews for Izumi and decided to stop in after work one day. It was around 4pm so it was still pretty slow. I took a seat at the sushi bar, which was very comfortable. I always enjoy watching the sushi chef (yes, I know they are highly skilled and have a name but I don't know it). He was very quick and VERY clean. Always re-wrapped the items after use, closed the cooler cabinet, etc. It made me comfortable that the establishment takes their product seriously. There were a few young people/employees setting just at the corner of the bar talking. At first it was annoying but then I became part of the conversation with them and "grandma". Quite a lovely family establishment. She was very kind and I loved the conversation. I ordered two special rolls and edamame. All of it was so yummy! I love sushi and this was some good quality stuff. I also like it spicy and this was perfect too. I can't wait to go back. I would give it 4 stars but I just haven't been there enough to truly say what is good an bad about the menu.

Fantastic birthday dinner! My kids loved the tepanyaki cooking and their food was seasoned well. I enjoyed the onion soup, the salad with ginger dressing, the shrimp fried rice with veggies and very cold Mich ultra. Everyone enjoyed the cook's sense of humor. I absolutely loved the waitstaff coming to sing happy birthday and present me with very pretty chopsticks in a wooden box. Nice touch! Our server was very attractive and really sweet. I would definitely consider going there for another birthday celebration or any time, really!

Based on my one experience I would never go back. I had heard that the sushi was good but the service was so sub-par that I would not go back. There are plenty of places that outshine this one that display far more character. I went with a party of 14 for a birthday gathering including a few children. Seems like the perfect type of place to accommodate a large party. The hostess/dining room manager made no effort to ensure we had a good experience and most of the staff followed her lead. Our entire party was seated at a large open-grill area spanning across two tables. Since we did not fill an 18 seat area so we had to wait for a party of 4 to sashay through the door to be seated with our bunch. Once the unrelated party was seated the ordering began with some level of chaos. It turns out they segregated part of our party with the 4 unrelated folks and began serving them and starting the stale Japanese steak house fan-fare of cooking at the grill. The rest of our party did not begin the meal process for a good 20 minutes which is not ideal when there were children and we preferred to all be on the same schedule. Very demanding of us, I realize. I wish I had tried the sushi because the grilled food was totally unacceptable. Additionally, our cook/entertainer was confused about the order even though there was a little map indicating to him who had ordered what. He ended up putting shrimp on the plate of someone who is allergic. Nice. Pay attention. And, Mr. Knife-slinger, if someone indicates they are allergic to shrimp, don't throw one at them to catch in their mouth. There was nothing redeeming about this restaurant, their staff or their food.

My wife and I stopped here on our second night in KC to see if we could sate our months-long craving for "Japanese" food. We showed up fairly late (9 pm local time), and it was obvious things were winding down. There was no wait, and the California roll we ordered was out really quickly. Seriously some of the best sushi I've had in the Midwest. It was just as fresh as any I could get on either coast. We opted for the hibachi grill, because the experience in Lincoln (where we reside) isn't what we are accustomed to from back in the Southeast. I can happily confirm that Izumi's provides an experience every bit as good as what I've had in the Southeast. They even have the signature "white sauce" (mayonnaise-based) that accompanies the Southern take on "American" Japanese food. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, and our hibachi chef prepared everything to perfection. The filet was prepared extremely well (very easy to overcook on a hibachi grill I've found). The chef even introduced us to a "yellow sauce" that we had not tried before. All in all, Izumi would be my top choice in the Midwest (and, of course, the KC metro) for all of my "Japanese" culinary cravings.

Based on the two previous reviews I decided to try Izumi, which is quite close to where I live! Yippee! Excellent sushi and sashimi close to home! How can you not love that? I ordered the combination plate that brought a chef's selection of rolled sushi, open-faced sushi, and sashimi, for $24. The combination included a bowl of miso soup and house salad. The soup was OK, nothing extraordinary. The salad was fine. Refreshing, with a slightly peanutty dressing. A big bottle of Sapporo, one of my favorite beers, was an ideal accompaniment. The sushi and sashimi were delicious. The rolled sushi was all salmon, and very tasty. It was the kind where the nori is on the inside and there's rice on the outside. The open-faced sushi had three different kinds of fish, and the sashimi was luscious salmon, red tuna and white tuna. I sat at the sushi bar and the very pleasant sushi-man, Sung, said they had a number of additional fish that weren't on the menu. After determining that I like sashimi (are you kidding? I loooove good sashimi) he offered me a sample of the bluefin tuna. I felt a little guilty about it, as it's becoming increasingly scarce, but tried it anyway. It may not be available in the future. Service was very friendly. I was a bit early, but people were starting to come in. It would be fun to come for the teppan-yaki, but I really was craving sushi, which I hadn't had since I was in Brazil in July. Sushi is very popular in Brazil, which has the largest Japanese community outside Japan. However, the quality and variety of the fish are greater here. In Brazil imported fish is usually prohibitively expensive, so you get more local fish and the variety that's sushi-grade is somewhat limited. (Also in Brazil there are a lot of "all you can eat" sushi places, so they obviously skimp a bit on the overall quality.) At Izumi all the fish was extremely fresh and delicious. I was worried I might still be hungry after I finished, but I was stuffed and waddled happily home! As mentioned, Izumi is in a shopping center at 135th and Quivira. The restaurant is just a bit east of the Price Chopper in that center. Try it -- if you enjoy good sushi you'll like it!!!

My daughter and I went early on a Saturday evening to this family style restaurant and got exactly what we were looking for! A quiet, busy place to eat w/ a great attentive wait staff that has great sushi! I would give them 5 stars but the sushi was big and not wrapped very tight so it made it hard to eat. But it tasted GREAT! The Miami Roll was our favorite! Next time we go we will take advantage of the private side rooms!

This was my daughter's request for a place to eat on her birthday. Had to make reservations, arrived on time, didn't seem very busy and was seated promptly. The waitress was pretty attentive. Kept the drinks full. The real treat was the chef. He kept the whole group entertained with his humor and tricks. Almost everyone managed to catch a shrimp. My niece was so entertained that she actually ate broccoli. The food was great. I love fresh. Cooked right in front of me. I had steak and shrimp. The steak was cooked excellently. Of course the fried rice and vegetables were delicious. Excellent dipping sauces. We did pay for the birthday special for my daughter. It came with a big chunk of pineapple, free picture and a gift (nice chopsticks). If you want to have a good time, Izumi's is the place. The staff was great, the food was delicious. Everyone had a great time.

This review is based upon 2 special events held at this place. First was a more subtle, anniversary dinner. Started off at another sushi place and they were jam packed because they were not prepared because of a recent Groupon release. So we left and stumbled across this place via Yelp (thanks guys!) No reservations of course and they were busy. But as soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the bartender, Johnny, who I mistaken as the manager because he was so attentive and helpful. Wherever possible, he helped the wait staff and followed up with any of our needs. Food (sushi) was excellent and service was phenomenal considering how busy they were that night. They really made our anniversary special when it could have easily been a disaster. Second review was a much bigger event. Based upon the great experience from our anniversary, I planned my wife's birthday several weeks later. Can't tell you her age, but it was a special birthday. :) Planned a surprise party with a limo for her and all of her girlfriends. Asked for the center hibachi table and their best teppan chef. Never tasted their teppan and was just going off of the prior experience. Was told by all the women that the food was fantastic and the chef was very entertaining. The 2nd experience didn't disappoint and everyone was extremely happy with everything. I had leftovers and it was very good!! All staff were very attentive to customer needs and the owner is very engaged. She is highly particular about cleanliness and customer service. Highly recommend for special events and regular dining. Excellent!!

Stop by as a first time guest for a dinner date. The first thing when I notice was a clean and relaxing atmosphere. I really like our server, she was very attentive and always making sure that we were well taking care of. The reason why gave a 2 star review because the quality of the food does not match for it's price. We ordered Hamachi Kama which it was over cooked. The Sashimi texture and freshness didn't taste right. The sushi rolls were too bland and simple. I would say this place is not an authentic Japanese resturant, not to mention is Chinese owned. We ordered the right amount of food and spend about $100 for our meal and my boyfriend was still hungry even though he's not a big eater. He ended up buying 2 hot dogs and finished by the ended of the night and stated that he'd rather not waste $100 on food that doesn't fill him up.

After spending the week gorging on big plates of BBQ I decided to do a 180 and eat some raw fish. Izumi is buried in a strip mall (but I have come to realize alot of places in suburban KC are buried in strip malls!) From the outside it is nondiscript but that changes when you walk in the front door and are greated by a prerecorded welcome message in Japanese (you also get a goodbye one when you leave). Inside is darker and well furnished/decorated with wood , bamboo, a fountain, etc. This place is a little bit of everything. When you walk in, to the right there are a series of teppanyaki grills ala Bennihanna. Directly as you walk in are western style tables with the sushi bar in the rear. To the far left are private dinning "cubicles" (I am not sure what they are called.) They were a little slow on the uptake when I first walked in - Dinner business was just starting up. But the service improved significantly as I sat at the Sushi bar and ordered miso soup and a couple different rolls: Eel (Unagi) and spicy tuna. The miso soup was good - nothing to write home about but good. The rolls were a little smaller diameter wise than I am used to. They didn't skimp on the fish and filling - however there was a smaller amount of rice. The eel roll was very good and I ordered a second. Price wise they are not cheap but somewhat comparable to what you would spend on sushi in Denver.

We stumbled on Izumi when they first opened up 10 or so years ago and I pretty much have a fetish with this place. I have yet to get off to the Sushi side of things, the steakhouse side of things is just too damn yummy. I suggest the Steak and Scallops, it is always quality. The service is always on point and the chefs are always fairly entertaining although you can almost believe that their might be a script for their performance. Chicken Steak and Shrimp is also a good dish for the big eaters. Can't go wrong as far as I know, worth a visit for sure.

I seriously love everything about this place! Sushi: Always fresh, amazing combination rolls, large servings. The first time I visited Izumi's my friends and I were the only customers for a late afternoon lunch and the sushi chef whipped us up a complimentary American Roll he wanted to try out that tasted exactly like a hamburger just for fun; this little touch is something we remember every time we visit. The best roll, hands down, is the Crazy Roll-- this is what happy tastes like! Teppan Yaki: Their chefs are friendly, extremely outgoing and some of the most entertaining I've seen. They know their craft well and do a great job balancing entertaining their tables and cooking delicious food. The fried rice is always dynamite and I've never had chicken that wasn't cooked to perfection. You also get a TON of food! Service: Wait staff is friendly and quick to bring anything you need. Some waiters/waitresses are certainly more pleasant than others but I've not had a bad experience with any of them. Price: The cost of their sushi seems to be just slightly higher than many other sushi restaurants in the area but I find the amazing quality and fantastic combinations worth a little splurge. The teppan yaki is very reasonably priced and I generally leave with enough food for another meal or two later in the week. Overall: Definitely worth a try if you like sushi or teppan yaki, I'm in here at least twice a month and would certainly visit more often if I could afford it!

Great sushi for KC, there isn't anything I wouldn't recommend from the sushi bar. If you aren't in the mood for sushi you can go to the hibachi for dinner and a show.

Good sushi, good hibachi; kids enjoy it when we come here as the hibachi chefs are fun and entertaining. Service is good, prices are average and food is good. It's near our house so easy to get to and it's consistent. Some of fav rolls include: Dynamite Roll (feels like 2 rolls in one; like the green mussels on top) Miami Roll Ichiban Roll Titanic Roll Volcano Roll Recommend Izumi if you're looking for good consistent food quality, service and nice range of sushi and hibachi.

I love this sushi restaurant! I have eaten at the regular tables and also in the small private rooms with the sliding door (wonderful for a romantic dinner). I have never eaten on the teppanyaki side since I only eat sushi and sashimi. The quality of their salmon sashimi is the best in Kansas City. The chef has also sent over specialty rolls and sushi on occasion that are delicious. The service is excellent and friendly. I almost always have the same server and she always remembers me and my favorite drink. The prices are on the same level as other sushi places in Kansas City. It's convenient, plenty of parking and nice atmosphere.

Back when sushi was one of my favorite foods, I would go to Izumi twice a month. I think the previous owners were Taiwanese, but they sold it to Koreans a couple/few years ago. Some of the food and service has remained consistent, but some things have changed. I'll run through some stuff. We almost exclusively sit on the teppanyaki side because my son and I like both sushi and steak. Their teppanyaki food is really quite good. We always order sirloin steak and shrimp. I think the previous meal accompaniment vegetables were better (and bigger portions) than what is served now. We don't go as often anymore, so I'm having difficulty remembering my latest (new owner) experiences, but I think they are skimping on the shrimp appetizer now too. Gratefully, though, they've kept the same delicious ginger salad dressing. It is so amazingly refreshing - perfect blend of tang and sweetness. I could drink the remaining dressing at the bottom of the bowl (and -shamefully- have). The chef's show is always entertaining, though if you return as often as we do, the jokes can get kinda old. What keeps us coming back to the teppanyaki side, however, is their incredible fried rice. You can order their fried rice when sitting at the regular tables and they will make it for you in the kitchen, but it somehow doesn't taste quite the same. The fried rice made on the grill is unbelievable - we literally don't leave a grain behind. On to the sushi. Remember, I no longer eat sushi as I often as I used to a couple years ago. But when I did, Izumi seemed to have the freshest sushi in Johnson County. Fresh sushi never exudes an odor, and Izumi's never does. Also, the Japanese are all about presentation and art when serving any food. So when sushi is served, it should be appealing to the eye, which in turn, appeals to the palate. That is the experience you get at Izumi. Their sushi presentation is always impeccable, never a hurried mess. Every piece is in neat form and the heaps of ginger and wasabi are always perfect mounds. You can tell their sushi chefs are pros - also evidenced by the tightness of the rolls. Even if you're a sodium fanatic and feel the need to totally immerse your piece in soy sauce, they don't fall apart! The sashimi is always flawlessly cut. They filet it just right; you never get any gross skin pieces or bad cuts that you can't chew. No amateurs here. A downside is the way they try to pack you in like sardines at the grill. It's really annoying when you can't even get out of your chair because you're so closely sandwiched to your neighbors. I just remind myself that it's like this at all teppanyaki grills. Lastly, it gets pretty pricey here. You can get cheaper sushi elsewhere, but if you're looking for top quality and can't make it to a coast, Izumi is the next best thing.

My husband and I have eaten at virtually every sushi restaurant in the greater KC area, from the high-end to the hole-in-the-wall... Izumi is by far our favorite. It's located in the corner of a strip-mall so not too many people line up for this restaurant, but it's quite the hidden gem. There are small private dining rooms with sliding doors on the left side of the restaurant, plenty of dining tables throughout the center of the resturant, teppanyaki tables on the right side, and a sushi bar. The dining room is quaint and cozy (and on the cooler side even in the summer - I always bring a jacket to wear indoors). The sushi is always plentiful and beautifully presented. The freshness of the fish is obvious from the first bite. The several times we've eaten at Izumi, we've never been disappointed with either the quality of the food or the service. My favorite is the Volcano Roll - I have a craving for baked scallops, now! IT'S SO GOOD! My husband is a sashimi lover and swears by the Tanaka - it melts in your mouth and even non-sashimi eaters would love it. Also, the amount of sashimi in your order will surprise you - you get so much more than other places for the same price! As for the service, they are very attentive and personable. In fact, the last time we were there, we were given a complimentary appetizer of tempura vegetables and the sushi chef gave us 4 pieces of complimentary maguro just because we had said we'd never tried it before! Such great people there - it was a wonderful experience. We have only gone to Izumi for the sushi and have yet to try the teppanyaki. But, by the loud applause from the bachelorette party that was there that night, I think they thoroughly enjoyed the show. If I had to choose one downside, I'd have to say the prices are on the high end. That being said, it's totally worth it because you may find other places with less expensive sushi prices, but the quality and quantity won't come close to Izumi.

(1)Vickie H.
(1)Taylor N.
Possibly the worst service I have ever experienced. There were three tables in the entire place and we waited over an hour for sushi!
(1)Lori K.
The guys at the sushi bar and the food were all just great! Arguably the best volcano roll in this town, and a delicious squid salad pre-meal. Unfortunately, the place lost their stars with the rest of our experience... Of course I ordered saké, twice, only to be told that two of the four options prominently displayed on their table stand were no longer being served. Well, then why not just have wine? Here's why: because the first bottle ordered was also no longer available, and the second one, well they actually had it in stock and at a great price for a nice Cab. Oh but wait! The bottle came PRE OPENED! The little girl, waiting on us stated, 'but I just opened it in back!' I want to vent about Wine 101 regarding purchasing a bottle, but I won't. Because you, my fellow yelper, already know the effect that had on me. Bottom line, the food is worth it. Just don't go in expecting what you deserve when spending close to $100 on a night out for a sip (fingers crossed) or a server; they've got their work cut out for them there.
(2)Erin W.
Perfect place to go if you dream of the sushi food coma. I ordered the Crazy roll and Philly roll (I get this every place I go) and for one of the only times, couldn't eat it all. The waitress was awesome, the food was melt in your mouth good, and I can't wait to come back.
(5)Jason R.
Ate there with family and ate at the steakhouse part It took forever to place our order and to get water. The steak was sub par, the chicken was good. The sauces placed at the table were not great at all. Overall not a great experience and will not go back.
(2)Cameon B.

(3)Kevin O.

Sushi was great. Service was good. Will definitely be back again. We had the yellow tuna sashimi, the volcano roll, and one other roll.

(4)Sheila D.
Best Japanese Steakhouse in the area. Never had a wait even on busy nights. Food is really good and the prices are affordable even for a large group
(4)Vince P.

Excellent!!

The sushi was prepared fresh and the flavors were wonderful. The staff was also very professional and the service was fast.

(5)Scott L.
(4)Lisa L.
(5)Rick K.
The sushi was great, the service was quick and attentive. We came in for lunch before noon and did not have to wait. The dumplings were scrumptious. We'll be back again.

Good food but owner. Little Asian lady extremely rude. Not just rude, horrible business owner...

Excellent food and value! Friendly and attentive wait staff. Sushi is prepared very well. Sushi and especially the sashimi melts in your mouth. Specialty rolls are very good.

Horrible owners! No customer service skills! Rude and nasty! Lady that owns it in the addidas track suit needs to learn how to treat paying customers with respect!
